Myanmar Ambassador to China participates “the 2026 Familiarization Trips for ASEAN Envoys to Chinese Localities” to Xizang Autonomous Region

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the People’s Republic of China H.E. U Zaw Win Myint visited “the 2026 Familiarization Trips for ASEAN Envoys to Chinese Localities” to Xizang Autonomous Region organized by the Secretariat of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) in Beijing from 26 to 30 June 2026.

H.E. U Zaw Win Myint arrived Nyingchi in the afternoon of 26 June 2026 and visited Yintai National Wetland Park in the evening. Later that evening, he attended a dinner hosted by Mr. Yin Lifang, Mayor of Nyingchi, together with other Ambassadors at the Botai Lizhi Hotel in Nyinchi. During the dinner, the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Nyingchi and ASEAN countries in the areas of people-to-people exchanges, tourism, cultural engagement, and trade and so on.

In the morning of 27 June 2026, Ambassador visited the Nyinchi Cold-water Fish Breeding Basement and the Garma Cherry Orchard Village and in the afternoon, the Basongtso Lake.

On 28 June 2026, Ambassador, together with other ASEAN Ambassadors and representatives, visited Galai Village (Peach Blossom Village) in the morning and in the afternoon, he continued travelling to Lhasa and met with H.E. Mr. Peng Zhaolong, Vice Chairman of the Xizang Uygur Autonomous Region, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Lhasa. During the meeting, both sides discussed on the development and background of Xizang Region and exchanged views on areas including politics, economy, education, culture, religious policies, and promotion of relations and cooperation between Xinjiang and ASEAN countries. Following the meeting, Ambassador attended a Banquet hosted by Xizang Autonomous Region Government.

In the morning of 29 June 2026, Ambassador, together with other ASEAN Ambassadors, visited Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Street and in the afternoon, Sera Temple. The delegation also visited Lianhuazhibao Culture Company that produce porcelain and Ganlu Tibetan Medicine company that produces Tibetan traditional medicine to gain insights of local cultural and traditional medicine development. On 30 June 2026, Ambassador and the delegation together visited the renowned Potala Palace. The visit was participated by approximately 40 participants, including ambassadors and diplomats from ASEAN missions in Beijing.
