

The Myanmar Embassy in Beijing celebrated the Myanmar New Year with a joyous Atā Thingyan Festival in the afternoon of 14 April 2026 at its premises in Beijing. The event was attended by Myanmar Ambassador to China H.E. U Zaw Win Myint and spouse, Military Attaché Brigadier General Zaw Zaw Naing and spouse and Myanmar Embassy staffs along with their families, diplomats from ASEAN Embassies and some Military Attachés based in Beijing, Myanmar scholars studying in China, Chinese business representatives, and other invited distinguished guests. In total, the celebration welcomed over 300 attendees.


As part of the program, Myanmar Ambassador to China delivered a New Year wishes and remarks and officially opened the Festival. This was followed by a group photo session with special guests. Embassy staff, family members, Myanmar scholars, and students then performed traditional Thingyan dances and songs, adding a festive vibe to the atmosphere.


Guests were also served with a variety of traditional Myanmar food, especially Mont-hin-ga (Rice Noodle with Fish Soup), A Sone Thoke (Myanmar Rainbow Salad), Laphat Thoke (Tea Leaf Salad), Pyay- style Chicken Palata, Palm Jaggery Sago with Coconut Milk, Mont Lone Yay Baw (Boiled Rice Ball with Jaggery), Shwe Yin Aye (Myanmar Coconut Milk desert) and Myanmar traditional cultural items were also displayed and sold. The celebration involves the symbolic splashing of water, embracing the essences of Thingyan.
