Inlay Lake

 
   
     
 
Inlay lake is vast, picturesque lake among the hazy blue mountains of southern Shan State. About 900 meters above sea-level, the lake stretches 22.4 km long and 10.2 km wide. It is mainly home to Inthaas, well-known for their unique way of leg-rowing. Inle’ Lake is located about 30 km to the south of Taunggyi which is about 730 km distance from Yangon. It can be reached by road but there are daily flights to Heho, some 40 km from Taunggyi.

  Taunggyi - Taunggyi, over 1430 meters above sea-level, is the capital of Shan State. It is a hill station, cool and pleasant all the year round. The market on every fifth day is crowded with ethnic minorities in their traditional dresses. The journey from Taunggyi down to Inlay Lake area takes about an hour.

Kalaw - Kalaw, another hill station, is 1400 meters above sea-level. Many of the Tudor-style houses and English gardens of colonial days remain. It is located 70km west of Taunggyi.

Pindaya Caves - Pindaya is about 45 km drive from Kalaw which is 660 km from Yangon. It is well-known for its extensive limestone caves, Pindaya cave set deep in the hillsides.
